A Step in the Right Pro-Life Direction

Michael Seifert - CEO & Founder @ PublicSq - Crunchbase Person Profile

PublicSq CEO Michael Seifert

After the overturning of Roe v. Wade, several major companies, including Patagonia, Amazon and Target, adopted a policy of offering their employees money for travel and time off to obtain abortions. It’s as if they couldn’t bear the idea of their female employees actually having children. Perhaps the cost of abortion support was less than that of maternal leave and other expenses associated with their employees being parents, like mothers (and fathers) actually taking time off to care for or spend time with their children. O, the horror! And they can do all of this under the guise of advocating for women’s rights. A win-win!

Micheal Seifert has responded differently to the situation. Seifert is the CEO of PublicSq, an app that links patriotic businesses with “quality products, services, and exclusive discounts,” according to its website. Siefert has announced that his company will offer a $5000 bonus to any employee that has a child or adopts a child.

Announcing his company’s policy on the “Fox & Friends” program, Seifert says, “We think that ultimately a company is only as strong as the families that built it, and then for us, we’re a pro-family company. We’re unashamed about that. And we’re actually the largest marketplace in the country of pro-family businesses.” Calling businesses that offer money for abortion support to task, Seifert said, “We wanted to sing an opposite tune and say, let’s actually put $5,000 behind any of our employees that were to have a baby, their spouses to have a baby, or they were to adopt, and this would be $5,000 after tax. They can use it as they please. Just as an awesome ‘thank you’ for being a great team member and to empower their family to continue to grow.” Seifert is putting his money where is mouth is. Good for him!

There are many ways to be pro-life in this anti-life culture. Pray. March. Vote. Provide direct support to mothers in crisis pregnancies, and to their children and the father of their children. Seifert’s actions are outstanding in two ways that come most readily to mind. First, it is simply an outstanding act of support for women and their families. Second, it is outstanding in the sense that no other company, that I know of, has adopted this policy, and “stands out” against the anti-life policies of so many other major companies.

There is no substitute for taking a stand that actually costs something. For that reason alone, Seifert deserves praise and gratitude.

Be Christ for all. Bring Christ to all. See Christ in all.
