Biden Pardons Biden

Personal and political pain collide for Joe and Hunter Biden ...

As everyone knows by now, President Joe Biden, after insisting for so long that he wouldn’t, pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, of all crimes committed for the last ten years, nullifying Hunter’s convictions for tax offenses and gun charges and rendering moot any future efforts to bring charges against him.

Did Joe Biden lie when he said he wouldn’t pardon Hunter Biden? I don’t know. I honestly don’t know what the man’s thought processes are at this point, or even if he knows what his thought processes are at this point. Does he even remember that he said he wouldn’t pardon Hunter? Did anyone remind him about such when he decided to pardon Hunter? Who knows? The whole thing is frustrating and beyond belief for the leading democracy in the world in the 21st century. Honestly, it’s like we live in a banana republic. Even fellow Democrats are criticizing Biden for the pardon, because it makes their political party look like the corrupt machine it is.

I have long regarded Joe Biden as a corrupt politician who was willing to say and do anything he needed to to get elected or to push his agenda through. One wonders, though, did Biden ever have an agenda other than getting elected? He seems to have regarded the presidency as simply a gold ring to be caught as he rode the carousel of life, to become president for no other reason than to say that he was president. When he was younger, perhaps he had some ideas of what he would have like to achieve as president. As a man in his late 70s and early 80s who was quickly declining even on the campaign trail for 2020, he struck me as a politician who felt that he deserved to be president and this was his last chance to grab it. He wouldn’t have succeeded had his opponant been anyone other than Trump in the middle of the COVID pandemic. The people of the country were, frankly, over the spectacle that was Trump then, and the media succeeded in blaming Trump enough for the pandemic that people thought maybe someone else could do a better job at the time. But Biden? C’mon man!

I have said more than once on this blog that Biden’s administration has been a dumpster fire, and there’s nothing lately to cause a re-examination of that assessment. Biden deserved to lose the presidency, even had he been mentally fit for it, which he was not in the first place. Harris deserved to lose the election because, as VP for such a dismal administration, she could not and should not have been able to distance herself from it. In any case, it’s not like she wanted to. After all, she insisted that she would have done nothing different from Biden. That’s the question, I think, that sealed her fate, and it’s a rich irony that it was first asked of her by as left-leaning a liberal as Sonny Hostin is on as left-leaning a TV show as there is, namely “The View.” Ms. Hostin would like to think that racism and mysogyny were the reasons Harris lost, but it was really the fact that Harris’ answer to her question solidified in the mind of the American people that Harris would be Biden 2.0. Nobody wanted that. The fact that Harris was running against a white man was incidental. She would have lost to a green armadillo at that point.

Joe Biden’s pardon of his son sets in stone the corrupt nature of the man, and will stain his legacy (as if it needed more staining). Biden will go down as one of the worst presidents this country has had, not unlike Benjamin Harrison, who also served his one term in between the two terms of another president, Grover Cleveland. Even greater harm has been done to the American psyche, where people, already disgruntled at and distrusting toward our federal government, will now have more reason to think that those in power really are above the law. Conservatives will point to Hillary Clinton and, now, Hunter Biden, while liberals point to Trump himself.

There is talk of Biden pardoning the likes of Anthony Fauci, Adam Schiff, and Liz Cheney, even though these three have not been charged with crimes. The thinking is, Trump will go after them with his own weaponized Department of Justice, charging them with crimes in order to decimate his enemies. Did Fauci, Schiff, and Cheney commit crimes? Fauci certainly lied to Congress on multiple occasions. That’s a crime. I don’t know what Schiff or Cheney did that constitutes a crime, but I’m sure Trump and his cronies could think of something connected to Schiff’s impeachment of Trump and Cheney’s going after the J6 protestors. The best thing Trump could do for the country, of course, is to let it go. We need to move on from the last eight years of unmitigated political hell. We need a country, and a government, focused on improving the lives of the American people after a miserable last eight years.

The first time he was president, Trump didn’t know Washington and how it worked. I don’t think he was expecting to win, so he wasn’t prepared as he needed to be. The Democrats, and their attack dog the legacy media, were dumbfounded that Trump won. They were so angry that the American people didn’t listen to them when they told them to elect Clinton that they spent the four years of Trump’s first administration doing everything they could to prevent his administration from succeeding, from the Russia hoax to the phony Ukraine impeachment. When Trump lost in 2020, he couldn’t accept it, and he responded as irrationally to his loss as the Dems and media had to his 2016 win. Such chaos! When the dust finally settled and Biden was inaugurated, there was almost an innocent stillness that took over for the first week or so. Then it hit everybody. Oh, my gosh! Joe Biden is president! And then the dumpster fire started, and it hasn’t ended since.

Right now, we’re in limbo. Who is running this country? No one knows. The only thing we can say for sure is that it ain’t Joe Biden. He’s sleeping at the wheel, literally. He only woke long enough to pardon Hunter, then went immediately back to sleep. These are dangerous times, made more so by a president who is not up to the job and a VP who has disappeared, possibly after falling into a depressive slump after losing the election. And, after January 20, we get Trump again.

I pray for my country.

Be Christ for all. Bring Christ to all. See Christ in all.

  1. Any sane parent would’ve pardoned their child knowing the upcoming president (i.e. convicted felon) has absolutely no regard for the rule of law and is backed up by an American government void of any checks and balances to stop him. God bless Biden for taking care of him. No telling what the unhinged man would’ve done to him. I pray every night for Mike Pence.

    1. I’ve no sympathy for Hunter Biden. He acted like he wouldn’t have to suffer the consequences for his crimes because of who is Daddy is and, guess what? he was right. Unfortunately, “the Big Guy” won’t suffer the consequences for making bundles of money for his family via his international influence peddling. Too bad. Makes the country look terrible.

As I said, the best thing Trump could do is let it all go and move on. I wonder what the betting odds are in Vegas that he will?
