President Trump signs an Executive Order banning males from competing in female sports
No one who’s regularly read this blog over the years will mistake me for a huge fan of Donald Trump. I have praised his policies when I though appropriate, but have also been quite critical of him, especially of his temperment and lack of presidential demeanor and discipline. However, in the spirit of giving credit where credit is due (like I did for Joe Biden last month), there are some things Trump has done as president in his first couple of weeks that I like.
- Going after violent criminal illegal immigrants. It is simple common sense that the U. S. needs to find, imprison, and deport illegal immigrants who are members of cartels, members of criminal organized gangs, or criminals who have committed heinous crimes such as murder, human trafficking, drug trafficking, rape, child abuse, assault, robbery, and any other violent crime. An estimate I have heard is that there are about 700,000 such illegal immigrants in this country. If Tom Homan focuses on only these illegals, as he should, that will keep him busy for a long, long time. Someone please explain to me why some mayors and governors are protesting these deportations.
- Reinstating the Mexico City policy. By Executive Order, Trump put back in place the Mexico City policy that forbids U. S. government funding of foreign organizations that provide and promote abortion. American tax dollars should not be going to finance abortions, here or abroad.
- Pardoning nonviolent pro-life protesters targeted by the Biden administration. Along with reinstating the Mexico City policy, Trump did pro-lifers a solid by pardoning 23 people who were targeted by the Biden administration, prosecuted and imprisoned for protesting nonviolently at abortion clinics. At the same time, Biden’s administration did next to nothing to search out, arrest, prosecute and imprison those who fire-bombed or otherwise vandalized churches and pro-life pregnancy centers. Hopefully, the Trump administration will do better in finding those people and bringing them to justice.
- Choosing Marco Rubio for Secretary of State. Rubio is a man with integrity, well respected by almost everyone, as testified to the unanimous consent his nomination received from his fellow senators. He is smart, committed, and I believe will make a fantastic chief diplomat for the United States. I hope some day he is elected president. I would prefer him to J. D. Vance.
- Leaving the Paris Climate Agreement. The Paris Climate Agreement is a farse. It is basically a gesture that allows nations to pretend they’re doing something about climate change while doing little to nothing, and demands little of China or India, two of the world’s worst polluters. The U. S. doesn’t need to be a member of the Paris Agreement to work toward cleaner energy. The answer to climate change is research in cleaner methods of producing energy, in which many U. S. companies are already involved. Listen to the video by Bjorn Lomborg. The Paris Climate Agreement will cost trillions of dollars over the decades and achieve almost nothing toward impacting climate change.
- Opening up Alaska for oil and gas production. The U. S. has a tremendous reserve of oil, gas, and natural resources in our largest state. We should exlpoit those. This will help the U. S. once again achieve energy indepence, rather than relying on sometimes hostile states, such as Iraq and Saudi Arabia, for our oil and gas. It will also create jobs for the people of Alaska
- Banning “gender therapy” on minors. This is only common sense. Minors who are not allowed to vote, serve in the military, or get their ears pierced without their parent’s permission should not be subjected to the largely experimental procedures of “gender therapy”. Too many children have been mutilated and scarred for life because doctors, therapists, Planned Parenthood “counselors,” and, to be honest, parents have pushed gender transitioning on their children, all with little research demonstrating its benefits. Using children as medical guinea pigs, or pawns in our effort to prove to others how “progressive” one is, is child abuse.
- Banning men from women sports. Again, this is only common sense. Boys and men possess biological advantages over girls and women. This has been demonstrated since forever. Allowing males who think they are female, or who feel like they are female, or who “identify” as female to compete against actual females puts females at a disadvantage, often a significant disadvantage. Hundreds of medals and scholarships have been lost to girls and women because they were required to compete against a boy or a man who captured the medal or scholarship that rightfully should have gone to them. This must stop now. The NCAA has announced, in response to Trump’s Executive Order on the matter, to now ban males from competing against females in college sports programs. Good.
- Banning DEI programs within the federal government. Regardless of what Whoopi Goldberg says, DEI and “woke” ideology are not the same as civil rights. Civil rights means that all people will be treated equally, regardless of their sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. DEI and “woke” ideology means that people will be treated differently or with special consideration because of their sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. It also, like Critical Race Theory, implies or flat out claims that people who are White are oppressors and privileged and people who are not White are oppressed and lack privilege, regardless of the realities of their lives. DEI needs to go, not only from the federal government, but from our culture. It encourages division along the lines of often immutable characteristics, making our politics and our society more polarized.
I hope the second Trump administration is successful. I wish Joe Biden’s term had been successful, but it wasn’t. It was a dumpster fire. We need some success for this country. It looks like Trump is at least doing some things that are making that happen. I’ll list some things Trump has done that I don’t like in a future post. But for now, I give him credit where credit is due. I will continue to pray for him and my country.
Be Christ for all. Bring Christ to all. See Christ in all.
