The Israel-Iran War Rages On

The war between Israel and Iran is a war between a cat and a mouse. Iran, quite simply, does not have the military strength to compete with Israel. Already, Iran’s missile offensive against Israel has diminished from hundreds of missiles to only twenty in the most recent attack. Israel’s Air Force has annihilated Iran’s facility where it was enriching uranium in hopes of developing a nuclear weapon. However, retired Israeli Air Force general and chief of Israeli intel says (or speculates) that Iran has moved some of the centrifuges it has to a bunker built into a mountain in anticipation of Israel destroying their nuclear enrichment facility. They still hope to develop a nuclear weapon. Israel does not have the bombs capable of destroying a bunker built into a mountain. The United States does.

Here is my fear: Iran, knowing that it cannot compete with Israel militarily, will reach out to other dictatorial regimes, such as Russia and/or China, to join their fight. Will Russia do so? I can’t imagine why. They have their hands full with Ukraine, and they don’t get their oil from Iran. Will China? I can’t imagine why. China’s regime in struggling to survive, and they’re more interested in Taiwan than Iran. China does get a significant amount of their oil from Iran. Will that be enough to interest them in supporting Iran? China needs to decide if propping up an Islamic regime in Iran, with which they have little in common ideologically, and a possible conflict with the United States, is worth the oil they get from the mullahs. I hope they decide it is not.

If Russia or China get involved against Israel, that will bring in the United States. Of course, the United States may get involved, anyway. Trump gave two months to the Iranian regime to consider a peaceful solution to its tensions with Israel. Iran rejected Trump’s efforts. Trump then gave Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, the okay to take out Iran’s nuclear enrichment facility (you know he did – Israel’s not gonna do that without knowing the U. S. would back them). Frankly, Israel’s taking out this facility was a service to the world. If Iran got a nuclear weapon, that would significantly de-stabilize the already tenuous situation in the Middle East. Iran’s goal is still to wipe Israel off the map. They cannot get a nuclear weapon.

So far, while Iran has targeted its missiles toward civilian centers, Israel has focused on military targets. Israel has been able to destroy many of Iran’s missiles shot toward Israel, but not all. Many Israeli citizens have been killed. Even more Iranians have been killed. But Israel now has control over the skies above Iran. Iran has little left with which to strike Israel. They will certainly seek help from others. Will they get that help, and from whom? The Iranian regime may be on its last legs.

Pray for peace.
