Mark Your Calendar!

I’ll be giving a presentation at the 2017 Ministries Day for the Diocese of Knoxville. The theme of the Ministries Day is: “Missionary Disciples for the New Evangelization.” It will take place on Saturday, August 19 at All Saints Catholic Church on Cedar Bluff. Registration is at 8:30am, followed by Mass at 9am. Opening Prayer is at 9:45am, followed by an address by Bishop Stika. There will be over two dozen presentations divided between morning and afternoon sessions. The cost is only $20. Call the chancery for information about registering, but I’m sure it will be on their website.

Ministries Day is always a great opportunity to get some good ideas on living the faith. In a small diocese like ours, it also serves as something of a family reunion, where people from all over the diocese get to see each other and catch up.

My presentation will be on “Evangelizing the Domestic Church.” Here’s the summary:

Evangelizing the Domestic Church

In Lumen Gentium, the document on the Church, the fathers of the Second Vatican Council said that, “The family is, so to speak, the domestic church.” How do parents go about building and sustaining a domestic church in the home? This presentation will offer a foundational understanding of the domestic church and ideas on family spirituality, service, and passing on a knowledge of Catholic teaching and tradition to children in ways that will stick. Share ideas on how you can help your own family fulfill its mission as the first school of faith.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Be Christ for all. Bring Christ to all. See Christ in all.
