From “Divine Mercy in My Soul,” the diary of St. Maria Faustina Kowalska:
“+I desire that priests proclaim this great mercy of Mine towards souls of sinners. Let the sinner not be afraid to approach Me. The flames of mercy are burning Me — clamoring to be spent; I want to pour them out upon these souls.
“Jesus complained to me in these words, Distrust on the part of souls is tearing at My insides. The distrust of a chosen soul causes Me even greater pain; despite My inexhaustible love for them they do not trust Me. Even My death is not enough for them. Woe to the soul that abuses theses [gifts].”
It’s clear that Jesus desires to forgive us and save us. Our distrust of Him pains Him so. He desires that His mercy be poured out over us to forgive our sins, to wash us clean, and transform us into a new creation. Why do we not take Him at His word? Why do we not trust Him? Why do we hold on to our sins, convinced somehow that God will not, or even cannot forgive us and save us?
Trust in Jesus! Trust in His love and mercy! Let go of sin and even the memory of past sins. Give them all to Jesus to die on the Cross. Be created anew! Be not afraid to approach your Savior. His only desire is to save you, to pour out upon you His love and mercy.
Be Christ for all. Bring Christ to all. See Christ in all.
