COVID-19 Relief Package Allows Taxpayer- Funded Abortions

Davis Reaffirms His Support for the Hyde Amendment and Opposition to Taxpayer-Funded Abortion | U.S. House of Representatives

What does taxpayer-funded abortion have to do with COVID relief? Absolutely nothing. Yet, the recently passed American Rescue Plan Act would allow such taxpayer funding of abortion. Both the House and the Senate rejected language, included in other COVID relief packages, that forbids using taxpayer money to directly pay for abortions. Planned Parenthood, the leading provider of abortions in the U. S., would be eligible to receive funds from the package. Does anyone think it will not use money received to pay for abortions?

The Hyde Amendment, passed in 1976 and renewed every year by Congress, forbids the use of taxpayer money to directly pay for abortions, except in the cases of rape, incest or danger to the life of the mother (all of which are extraordinarily rare). Each of the past COVID relief packages included language reflecting the Hyde Amendment. But, the American Rescue Plan Act does not include such language, meaning that organizations like Planned Parenthood, which will certainly receive money from the plan, can use that money to pay for abortions.

President Biden claims that he agrees with Catholic Church teaching that life begins at conception and, as such, every abortion represents the killing of an innocent human life. But, he says he will not oppose legal abortion because he does not believe in forcing his religious beliefs on those who disagree. This is poppycock, of course. How could anyone support the legalization of what they believe is the direct killing of innocent human lives based on their not wanting to force their religious views on others? Who’s religion supports the legalized killing of innocent human beings? Are people still worshipping Moloch today? Even still, Biden has no qualms whatsoever about forcing his beliefs about gender ideology, same-sex marriage, and paying for abortions on those who disagree with him.

The rejection of Hyde Amendment language to the American Rescue Plan Act represents a significant shift in American politics. For the first time in over 45 years, Americans will now be forced to pay for abortions. That there has been virtually no media attention given to this matter isn’t surprising, given the media’s own pro-abortion preferences.

Still, it’s important to contact your legislators and let them know that you do not support his drastic reversal of a long-standing, bi-partisan policy. Biden and Congress need to know that they do not speak for us.

Be Christ for all. Bring Christ to all. See Christ in all.
