Today, August 28, is the Memorial of St. Augustine of Hippo, Bishop and Doctor of the Church.

In honor of St. Augustine, I am going to link to my four part presentation, Restless Heart: An Introduction to St. Augustine of Hippo given at All Saints Catholic Church back in 2017. I had hoped to cover St. Augustine’s “Confessions,” his “City of God” and his Theology of Grace, but I only managed to get through his “Confessions.” Oh, well. That’s fine. Hopefully, someday I’ll get to the other topics as well.

William A. Jurgens, in his work The Faith of the Early Father, Vol. 3 wrote, “If we were faced with the unlikely proposition of having to destroy completely either the works of Augustine or the works of all other Fathers and Writers, I have little doubt that all the others would have to be sacrificed. Augustine must remain.”

St. Augustine is that important to the history of the Church and the Church’s understanding of her faith in Christ. I hope you enjoy these presentations. As always, all feedback is welcome.
