As if the world of gender ideology were not disturbing enough, three stories reveal how advocates of transgenderism are targeting children.
Language The Federalist reports is being purposefully unmentioned or un-emphasized by Michigan’s pro-Proposition 3 campaign in hopes that it will be unnoticed by voters would give minors the state constitutional right to receive “gender-affirming care,” including hormonal therapy and sterilizing surgeries, all without the consent or even knowledge of their parents. Planned Parenthood, who is championing the pro-Prop 3 initiative, would profit from such because they are now the second-largest provider of hormone therapy in the country.
Proposition 3 is being called the “Reproductive Freedom for All” amendment to Michigan’s state Constitution. It is being falsely advertised as taking Michigan back to where abortion laws stood prior to the Supreme Court’s Dodd decision that overturned Roe and Casey. In fact, it would go much farther. “If passed,” The Federalist reports, “the constitutional amendment would create an extreme regime in Michigan of abortion on demand, at any time, for any reason, without informed or parental consent, and paid for by taxpayers.”
But the amendment would go far beyond even abortion, adopting the language that: “Every individual has a fundamental right to reproductive freedom, which entails the right to make and effectuate decisions about all matters relating to pregnancy, including but not limited to prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, contraception, sterilization, abortion care, miscarriage management, and infertility care. An individual’s right to reproductive freedom shall not be denied, burdened, nor infringed upon unless justified by a compelling state interest achieved by the least restrictive means. …”
“Every individual” includes minors, since the proposed amendment includes no exception for minors. “Sterilization” includes hormone therapy and surgery to remove the reproductive organs of boys and girls in the sex-reassignment process, since these would render them sterile. Again, there is nothing in the proposed amendment that protects parental rights in these decisions being made by minors. And Planned Parenthood already has a history of not being concerned about the rights of parents when it comes to providing hormone therapy to minors.
A second disturbing story reported by the Daily Wire reveals the existence of an organization called the Pride Liberation Project that informs minors who identify as LGBTQ+ and who are not supported by their families that they will assist them in running away from their homes, provide them with money, and arrange for them to live with a “queer-friendly” adults. This is an organization run by adults. Aaryan Rawal, a college student who once worked for a Democratic Virginia state legislator, wrote on PLP’s message board: “We’re creating this channel as a way for everyone to understand the mutual aid and support resources the PLP has available for outed and in-crisis students! For full transparency, this channel is catered to outed students who are facing familial rejection or need to leave their home for another reason. … In the event of you needing to leave your home, we can provide you with emergency housing from a supportive, Queer friendly adult.” Rawal was kind enough to alert prospective runaways: “Please note that this adult will likely be white.”
Rawal went on to let minors know that PLP can also provide funds to support them while away from their families. “In the short term,” he wrote, “we can provide a couple of hundred dollars immediately. We can send this to you through Venmo or Zelle. Please note that it’ll say the money comes from the PLP account, but we may be able to change the name if needed. … We can also set up a dedicated ActBlue fundraising page for you and get allies to donate. In the past, this has led to thousands of dollars in donations. All of this money is yours.” ActBlue is a funding platform run by the Democrat Party.
PLP has received the support of educators, including Robert Rigby, a Fairfax County teacher, and Amy Cannava, chair of the National Association of School Psychologists’ (NASP) LGBTQI2-S Committee, who works as a counselor at Wakefield High School in Arlington, VA. (I graduated from Wakefield HS in 1979!).
Anyone who thinks PLP’s efforts won’t result in minors being abused and sexually trafficked is an idiot. These are adults at the helm of an effort to encourage and support children in running away from their families. Federal and state authorities need to be investigating this organization. I am skeptical of the likelihood of a federal investigation, even if children are abused, so long as Biden is President and Merrick Garland is Attorney General. The Biden administration is completely on-board with LGBTQ+ agenda, regardless of the consequences to children. With Glenn Youngkin as Governor of Virginia, perhaps there is some hope that an investigation will be done.
Finally, data collected by the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in Maryland shows a 582% increase in the number of students identifying as gender nonconforming from 2019 to 2022. In the 2019-2020 school year, 35 students identified as gender nonconforming; in the 2021-2022 school year, 239 students identified as such. The data, which was not intended to be made public and remains publicly unavailable to parents or taxpayers, was accidentally shared when a teacher, Elicia Eberhart-Bliss, posted it on her Twitter page. The information was part of a slide show presented at a meeting of the district’s “Pride ALLiance.” So, for some reason, the data is not supposed to be shared with parents and taxpayers, but it’s perfectly fine to share it with LGBTQ+ activists and advocates?
According to the guidelines of MCPS, students have a “right” to keep their gender identities private while at school. Parents can be informed or involved in their child’s gender identity “if the student states that [the parents] are aware of and supportive of the student’s gender identity.” Did you get that? Parents must be aware of and supportive of their child’s gender identity or the school is obliged to keep them in the dark (read: gaslight). What level of “support” the parents must meet to satisfy the schools isn’t said. I suspect that “support” means the parents agree with the gender identity their child states and doesn’t include counseling or therapy to get to the root of the child’s mental health issues and gender dysphoria. That probably counts as “unsupportive.” This, even though research on the matter tells us that the vast majority of minors who identify as the opposite eventually reconcile with their biological gender by the time they reach adulthood. (With the medical community now largely on-board with gender ideology, however, this research isn’t respected among academics or medical researchers. Go figure).
There is reason to be concerned that these gender-confused children are responding to social cues that encourage identifying as transgender or gender nonconforming. Children and adolescents are particularly susceptible to peer pressure and cultural pressures and there’s no denying that being transgender is propped up by social and cultural influencers as being a positive thing, as well as a way to rebel against parents, church, society, etc. How many of these children are genuinely transgender is probably a tiny minority of those identified as such. Along with those children who are persuaded to identify as gender nonconforming under these pressures, there are also those who are gender confused as a result of our culture’s own confusion over gender. When a Supreme Court candidate says she isn’t qualified to define what a woman is, is there any wonder why our children are confused?
Evolutionary biologist and journalist Colin Write recently wrote that the definition of “transgender” has been expanded in recent years to include those who are gender nonconforming. As such, girls who used to be identified as “tomboys” are now labeled “transgender,” because they are considered gender nonconforming. This expanded definition has been adopted by medical authorities as well as activists, including the American Medical Association, the CDC, and, naturally, Planned Parenthood. Write says, “It is urgent that we all fully understand that the definition of transgenderism used by our most highly regarded scientific, medical, and human rights institutions now literally encompasses common gender nonconformity, and this is the main reason so many children are now claiming to be transgender.”
Transgenderism for children is now widely accepted by our intellectual, media, and medical elites. Recent exposes have reported on the gender affirming “therapies” performed by the most respected medical institutions for children and supported by our most respected academic institutions. To oppose this movement is to be labeled a bigot and to be subject to social isolation and even violence. Children as young as 12 are receiving sex reassignment surgeries. So-called “experts” and academics insist that children as young as 2 or 3 ought to be eligible for gender reassignment therapies. Child Protective Services can take your child away if you oppose him or her receiving hormone therapy, sometimes leading to a tragic end.
What is the solution? Politically, it is to vote out of office politicians who support the transgender movement. Educationally, it is to oppose those who insist on introducing our children to transgenderism in schools (which, needless to say, are supported by our taxes), and to vote against school board members who want this nonsense in our schools. Medically, it is to find a pediatrician who is still ruled by science and biology to care for our children, and not ruled by politics and culture. Religiously, it is to pray for common sense and to teach our children the ways of a God who loves them unconditionally. But the most important thing as parents is to be there for our children, to develop a relationship with them that is open and supportive. We, as parents, want to be the ones our children come to when they are confused and have questions about anything. We cannot afford to leave them in the hands of pseudo-experts who are more invested in a social, cultural, and political agenda than they are in our children. We need to understand that there is an array of politicians, medical professionals, academics, social advocates, and educators who regard parents as secondary in their children’s lives, regarding themselves first. These persons have little to no respect for parents, and less respect for the judgments of parents regarding what is best for their children. They will run roughshod over parents in their determination to establish their pro-LGBTQ+ agenda. We must not allow this to happen. Nothing is more sacred than the responsibility of parents to raise their children in righteousness. If we surrender that, we surrender everything. We owe it to our children, to ourselves, to our communities, and to our God to stand fast against this onslaught. By God’s will, we will prevail. For the sake of our children, we must.
Be Christ for all. Bring Christ to all. See Christ in all.
